This is the flagship course at LFGA and is the only course on which you can complete all the requirements for qualification as a FGASA Apprentice Field Guide and also achieve the CATHSSETA NQF2 National Qualification. With a special sitting of FGASA theory on course and a free FGASA practical evaluation thrown in, this is the best value for money in the Field Guide training industry. It is advisable to take the 2 month course as you have more training time and more nature immersion. This course is FGASA Endorsed.
FGASA Safari Guide Program
NQF2 / Trails Guide / Internship

This is the most comprehensive apprentice program available at LFGA, with a combined training and internship duration of 6 months. Having successfully completed this program, the apprentice will be in the best possible position to secure a guiding career going forward. Part one of the program is the FGASA Apprentice Field Guide Course, part two is the FGASA Apprentice Trails Guide Course, and the final phase is the internship – work placement in the industry which may develop into a permanent job, or simply provide the candidate with much needed experience. You start this process with the online theory course, and thereafter you can attend this course to complete your FULL FGASA NQF 2. FGASA Apprentice Trails Guide

4 weeks in duration, this is the new version of the old FGASA Back-up Trails Guide Course. Covering all the requirements for the Apprentice Trails Guide initial phase, this includes Advanced Rifle Handling, TG theory special sitting and the Apprentice Mentorship process. This course is FGASA endorsed.

The 3 or 4 week course option is a great opportunity to still do the full syllabus for NQF 2 (Apprentice Field Guide), but in a shorter time period. This is ideal for candidates that cannot take off work for and extended time period, or might have financial constraints. The 3 week option offers all the theory and practical components as well as a Track and Sign training week. Week 4 is an additional Dangerous Game Training week with hours logged towards Apprentice Trails Guide.

For the learner that would like to prepare for the theory component of FGASA Apprentice Field Guide – this is the perfect preparation course for the FGASA National Sitting theory exam. With online support and guidance, you are able to study at your own pace and submit assignments as per the schedule. Once completed, the student is able to write the FGASA theory exam and if they so require, are then able to attend practical contact weeks at LFGA. The contact weeks are not included in this course price. This course is AFGA endorsed.
