Born into a family of Safari Guides, Tiz was raised and educated on the plains of Kenya. This being his earliest exposure, it seems he was destined to live out a career in the African bush.
Tiz gained his earliest experience in the family business, before migrating south in search of new opportunities. After swiftly completing his FGASA qualifications and SA National Qualification, Tiz entered the SA guiding circuit, picking up experience in the Waterberg, Greater Kruger NP Lowveld, Kwa-Zulu Natal and Mpumalanga. Working various Big 5 areas coupled with his East African experience, made Tiz the ideal candidate for an internship at LFGA.
Tiz joined us in 2012 as a Field Guide and was immediately entered into the trainer internship program. This is an incredible opportunity afforded to very few individuals and is hard work from the beginning! Tiz appeared equal to the task and immediately made an impression on his mentors, displaying several positive qualities that we strive towards at LFGA – not least of which is PASSION!
Going through the levels of internship with ease, Tiz was fortunate to be mentored by some great trainers who are affiliated to LFGA and in time he picked up the required qualifications – those being FGASA Level 3 and Trails Guide. At the same time, Tiz shone in the areas of Birding and Tracking – both hallmarks of the LFGA brand. He picked up the CyberTracker Track and Sign Professional Level after many hours of dirt-time, all the while imparting his wealth of knowledge and experience to our eager students.
During 2016 Tiz entered the final phase of his mentorship with us, that of graduation to Trainer. By that time he had successfully coupled his guiding experience with the years of trainer mentorship and was able to take a leadership role at LFGA. Tiz excelled in all areas and in 2017 – five years after entering the program, Tiz graduated to the level of Trainer at Limpopo Field Guiding Academy!
We are proud to have Tiz on board with his unique blend of qualification and experience – this all adds up to exceptional value for the students under his care.
